CHILDLINE is a 24×7 free phone service to reach out to children in need of care and protection. It is a project of the Ministry of Women and Child development, Govt. of India. National Domestic Workers’ Movement has been selected from many organizations in Ranchi to partner with Children India Foundation and the Ministry of Women and Child Development to reach out to children in the city of Ranchi. Through CHILDLINE we are at 24×7 service of any child who is in need of care and protection. In the financial year 2014-15, we reached out to 270 children in need of care and protection which includes medical help, shelter, rescue, repartition, sponsorship, missing children, emotional support etc.
Appreciating our commitment, the Children India Foundation approached us to take up the new Railway CHILDLINE project too for Ranchi railway station. Thus since 25th June 2015, National Domestic Workers’ Movement through Children Indian Foundation is partnering with the Ministry of Railways, Ministry of Women and Child development to prevent trafficking of young people, especially minor boys and girls for forced labour in Delhi and beyond. In just two months, we have been able to reach out to 93 minor children, many of whom were being trafficked and taken to Delhi and beyond for forced labour etc. 18 traffickers have also been arrested and FIR has been lodged on them.
